Carmel Bands, Carmel, Indiana

Special Announcement – November 27, 2011

Thank you for making this a most wonderful Marching Band Season

November 27, 2011

At about 2 pm Saturday, our 2011 marching season officially ended. Band members, directors and chaperones all wearily disembarked from buses after four incredibly exciting days in New York City. One can only describe the trip as a “once in a lifetime experience”.  Our band was simply amazing and did an incredible job of representing our school, city and the state of Indiana. The band’s website has received numerous emails from all over the country complimenting our band on their FOX and Friends performance. One man wrote, “Your marching band is the finest high school band I have heard. You have a magnificent program!” Another viewer said, “Saw you guys on TV. You were GREAT. No – PERFECT. Congratulations on a wonderful performance.” And also, “Great Performance on the show, would love to hear the Star Spangled Banner like that more often!!!”  The directors also received numerous compliments for the band’s performance during the Macy’s Parade.
I must thank all those who worked so diligently these last few weeks (while in the height of marching season) to organize and finalize plans and logistics for the trip including our Director, Richard Saucedo, Performing Arts Department Secretary, Mary Eaton (the trip’s lead escort), Lead Chaperone, Tim Dawson, and Bus One Lead Chaperone, Pam Verbarg.
Additionally, all of our chaperones attended numerous meetings in preparation for the trip and did a phenomenal job while in New York City. To say, “Thank You”, is simply inadequate!  They worked literally around the clock to ensure our students had the best (and safest) experience possible. The next time you see any of these parents, please take a moment to offer your thanks for a job well done. In addition to Tim Dawson and Pam Verbarg, they include Joe Pfister, Michelle Smit, Sandy Guion, Vicki Allen, Julie Dawson, Kim Ware, Bill Eagleson, Chris Kniola, Ernie Verbarg, Terri Milller, Brad Yount, Bob Glavan, Brenda Pfister and Amber Fisher-Gest who in addition to chaperoning also served as Band Nurse.
It was a fitting end to an amazing season. On behalf of the entire board, I want to thank all our parents for pitching in to make the 2011 season one of the best ever. We had so many parents step up again and again, and as a result, many new friendships were formed and a sense of community took shape. It was an honor to work alongside all of you for simply the best marching band in the country.  After a few weeks’ rest, I am hoping you will join me in working for our equally gifted Jazz and Concert bands as well as our Winter Guard this spring semester.  As always, each of our programs strives to continue the tradition of excellence that is Carmel Bands.
With many thanks to our entire parent group,
Lisa Harbour
