REMINDER:  We are heading into the final stretch.  As such, there will be a MONDAY Practice next week!  All practices this week and next are crucial to our success at Nationals. Please respect the directors and the other 208 Marching Greyhounds. No student should miss any rehearsals for the remainder of the season. Illness is the only excused absence. Please e-mail Mr. Kreke  if your child is ill, otherwise, your student will be expected to be at each rehearsal for the entire rehearsal. Thank you for your cooperation in this regard.

BOA GRAND NATIONAL FINALS TICKETS ARE IN!

Red Flex, in case you didn't know what one looked like.Parents, Grand National Finals Tickets have arrived. Please look for Christy Pawlovich near the trailer at the end of practice Wednesday & Thursday, and Friday at the Pitch-in and Saturday at the send off to pick up your tickets. She drives a red Flex with a white roof. In the event of rain tomorrow, she will be parked in the circle drive near the entrance to the band hall during pick up.  If you are unable to pick up your tickets during any of these times, please email Christy and make arrangements to pick up your tickets.

SCRIP UPDATE

SCRIP pickup, this week, will be on Friday 5-6 pm at the Pitch-in.  As always, there’ll be a terrific selection of scrip cards in stock and available for immediate purchase as well.

PITCH-IN THIS FRIDAY, November 4 before the Carmel – Warren Central Game!

Bring whatever you want from your child’s category below! Bring the food you know that the kids and families love!  Popular food includes tacos, pizzas, fruit, finger food, chicken, brownies, etc!  Come to the Pitch In to cheer on the band as they get ready to support the football team against Warren Central! Look below for what your child’s food category is!

 

Friday, Nov. 4 – For game versus Warren Central!

Please bring your contribution to the “Whatever you Want” Night at the CHS stadium parking lot by 5:15 p.m.* (food should serve at least 12) 

  • Saxes, Baritones, Clarinets, Drum Majors - Main Dishes
  • Guard, Contras, Trumpets - Side Dishes
  • Mello, Flutes – Desserts
  • Percussion (Pit and Drum Line) - Drinks*

          *(please bring at least 24 individual bottles or cans of water, lemonade

Dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. for band members and uniform moms!

The rest of us will begin eating at about 5:45. Please be prompt if you plan to eat, the food goes quickly!

 

Cups, plates, napkins and cutlery will be provided. Even if you are unable to stay for the pitch in, please drop off your contribution by 5:15, we have hungry band members!

WALLED LAKE UPDATE

Thank you to all the volunteer families.  Walled Lake has completed their assignments and their information is being sent out to our host families today.  We have one more request.  On Friday, the night before finals, The Fresh Market is providing dinner for both bands, chaperones and hosts.  We could use donations of cases of soda for the band students.  If you are able to donate, please drop off a case or two or several 2 liter bottles of Dr. Pepper, Mt. Dew, Pepsi, 7-up or Diet Coke in the Freshman Cafeteria after 3:00 pm, Friday November 11th.  Thank you again for your generosity and support of the bands!

ALUMNI UPDATE

Indy BOA – Carmel Alum’s to Perform with Purdue Band – ‘Proud to report that Carmel Marching alums, Teresa Spall (baritone) and Nick Pfister (trumpet), will be performing with the 340-member Purdue All-American Marching Band this Saturday night at the Indy BOA Super Regional. Purdue will open the finals competition as well as play on the finals bands for retreat. ‘Look for them and cheer!

GOING VIRAL 2011 & CMB COMMEMORATIVE ORNAMENTS 

Commemorate this ‘Going Viral’ season with a keepsake ornament. Each ornament has the QR code, the show’s title and year, yellow shimmery ribbon to symbolize the guard’s costume, black and white ribbon to symbolize the QR code, and a royal blue ribbon to symbolize the band’s uniforms. Each ornament is filled with black, white, and yellow glass beads and each ornament also contains a glass red star bead to symbolize the trip to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. “Carmel Marching Band” ornament is filled with blue, black and silver glass beads and has musical note ribbon, silver, and royal blue ribbon. Price for the ornaments is $10 each and all proceeds go to the band and guard. Look for JoAnn Albright after practice Thursday or Friday’s Pitch In. Last pick up for all button orders will by Friday, November 4th after practice. After the Pitch in all unclaimed buttons will be discarded.  As a reminder, each button is $3. GRAND NATIONALS FINALS VIDEOS ARE NOW AVAILABLE FOR PRE-ORDER

Every year, Mr. Video offers booster groups the opportunity to pre order Grand Nationals Finals DVD’s. For our new parents, this is a video shot live the night of Grand National Finals of each band’s performance in two formats (up close (field level) and from the press box.) After Grand Nats, if you order from Mr. Video, the video will cost $99. We will be taking orders for the videos beginning today at the reduced cost of $75. Orders must be placed on line on the band’s website and must be paid for using Pay Pal. No cash or personal checks will be accepted. Orders must be placed by next Wednesday, November 9th. NO LATE ORDERS WILL BE ACCEPTED! 

Please note, this DVD is NOT to be confused with the band’s End-Of-Season DVD which is being shot by Greg Pergal and will be shown at the Band Banquet. That DVD order is also available for sale and chronicles our band’s entire season.

MACY*S TRIP UPDATE

All students, chaperones and fans traveling to New York City with Music Travel Consultants should have received their final invoice from Music Travel for their student’s account at this time.  Final payments are due on your Music Travelaccount at this time.

Going to Macys on the fan bus or your own transportation and looking for a way to coordinate sight-seeing and other fun activities in the Big Apple with other marching band families?  Check out the newly formed group “Carmel Marching to Macys Fan Trip” on Facebook and join up.

Also, if you are traveling by bus to New York, EVERYONE needs a sack dinner on Monday evening. The buses will not be stopping for a dinner break. Our corporate sponsor, Fresh Market is donating meals at no charge for students, staff and chaperones on the buses. Fans have the option of pre-purchasing a meal for $8.00. The meal includes a sandwich of your choice, chips, fruit, cookie and bottled water. Purchase of the meal is optional; however, if you choose not to participate, please note you will be responsible for providing your own sack dinner. If you are traveling by fan bus and want to participate, please submit the menu (Use the MACY*S link above) with choice of Sandwich circled and $8.00 payment to Lisa Harbour or Robin Ridge no later than Friday, November 11, 2011.

UNIFORM UPDATE:  Grand Nats is fast approaching!!!

The Carmel uniform is well known across the state of Indiana and the nation. The Carmel “C” is a coveted souvenir at the Bands of America Grand National Championship. Students like to trade the Carmel “C” for other bands uniform items. Please be aware that all uniforms will be inventoried after Grand Nats. Any missing items will be billed to the students marching band account. So everyone is aware ahead of time, the cost of each item is:
