The NAMM Foundation’s Best Communities for Music Education (BCME) is a signature program of the NAMM Foundation that recognizes and celebrates school districts and schools for their support and commitment to music education and efforts to assure access to music for all students as part of a well-rounded education.

 

 

 

2018 and 2012 John Philip Sousa Foundation Sudler Shield Award

The Sudler Shield Award is an international award recognizing high school, youth, and international marching bands of world class excellence.  The purpose of this award is to support world-class excellence in an ensemble’s musical performance, marching execution, choreography and show design.

 

 

 

2018 NBA Blue Ribbon Program of Excellence Award

The NBA Blue Ribbon Program of Excellence Award is a national award recognizing high levels of program excellence in bands and band music at the high school and middle school levels.  Bands are evaluated over a four year period on the following criteria:  live recordings of top tier musical scores for concert band; live recordings of marching band, jazz band, chamber, or percussion groups; recent honors and achievements received by the ensemble and director; judges feedback  from concert band contests or festivals; music repertoire list; number of students accepted by audition into Honor Band and Orchestras on regional and state levels; number and ratings of Solo and Ensemble participants; a report of former high school students who continue to perform after graduation in college ensembles, major in music, and/or perform with community ensembles.
